During Q : Confused
The "During Q" collection was conceived in spring 2020. During this period, I observed a recurring theme in conversations with friends: "I do not even know how to tell you how I feel." This quote resonated with me, prompting me to consider how I could contribute to my community. As an artist, I find comfort in expressing my emotions through art, allowing me to release feelings and find peace. Inspired by this, I took to social media and invited others to participate by sharing one adjective to describe their current feelings. From the responses of 30 individuals, I gathered a diverse array of words.
Collaborating with the talented artist and calligrapher Susan Sacco, I embarked on a project where she painted these words onto canvases, which I then adorned with figures reflecting the emotions conveyed. This collection serves as a poignant reflection of my community's experiences during isolation. My hope is that those who contributed can see themselves mirrored in these creations, knowing they have been heard and are not alone.
I am particularly drawn to the concept of this community project, as it not only fostered a connection among the 30 participants but also resonates with anyone who views or collects from this series.
