My work features expressive lines in high contrast to spark the visual processing center of the brain: the occipital lobe. The name I gave myself, Occipital, is connected with my art because of its visual nature, and was chosen because I wanted this technique and aesthetic to have its own name as the inspiration is not about myself.

The Process:

The theme to connect all of my paintings is body language. I utilize the movement and pose of a human figure to convey emotions in each painting. Initially I created artwork as personal means of self-expression until it caught the eyes of others.

This narrative technique is fascinating as body language is a universally understood form of expression, transcending cultural and background differences. The objective is for individuals to establish a personal connection with the artwork, making it meaningful to them. While I painted a piece with my own story or struggles in mind, as humans, we share common emotions, and collectors relate my artwork to moments in their own lives.

The paintings have a minimal aesthetic, therefore each brush stroke plays a crucial role in the composition. I use layers of paint and the movement of my brush to create texture and interest within the piece. This technique contributes to the motion in each piece.

Making Connections:

During my career I have had the opportunity to collaborate with companies and collectors; transforming what is important to them into a piece of art.  I have completed commissions highlighting a couple's journey, the streets of a beloved city, the idea of travel with Brompton bikes, an album cover, and the list goes on.  I have also been able to connect with my collectors through the collections I create encompassing the feeling of resilience, translating the world around me in the Perspective Collection, current events from the During Q Collection, and the movement within the Fluidity Collection.

Exhibitions & Collaborations:

Over the years my artwork has been displayed at the Cohen Gallery at Brown University in Providence, RI, a mural on Bedford Avenue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, OneWay Gallery in Narragansett, RI, limited edition artwork sold at CB2 and CB2 Canada, Aloft Providence Downtown, Lilia Restaurant in Brooklyn, NY, Concord Hill in Brooklyn, NY, The Bayview Hotel in Bar Harbor, ME, and FINI in Brooklyn, NY to name a few.

The aesthetic and colorstory of my work is distinct and purposeful.  I will continue to immerse myself in the world around me, transforming it into impactful artwork.

Stay tuned for the evolution!
