In Every Direction 09.510
I wanted to create a collection that captures the constant flow of energy in our lives. As self-care has become more of a focus, it’s clear that we’re all juggling overloaded schedules. Whether it’s work, family, or community, we’re constantly pulled in different directions. This collection embodies that chaotic energy. I used thin, refined lines so that from a distance, the piece forms a striking pattern, but as you get closer, you see figures either facing toward or away from one another. The poses are designed to suggest movement and vitality, reflecting the fast-paced rhythm of our everyday lives.
This painting was made using gouache on paper, a medium that is more opaque than traditional watercolor. I enjoy working with gouache because it shares similar characteristics with ink. It allows me to create delicate fine lines or let the paint bleed to add rich texture.
