This original painting is part of the “During Q” Collection; a collection that was made in collaboration with the community as well as calligrapher Susan Sacco. In the beginning of quarantine March of 2020 in Brooklyn, New York I noticed a common theme in conversations with friends: “I don't even know how to tell you how I feel”. This quote was stuck in my head. As an artist I have the ability to express my feelings in other ways, allowing myself to release an overflow of feelings and feel more at ease.

I decided that this may be an area that I could be of some use to my community. I went ahead and posted on social media asking for anyone who wanted to participate to comment with one adjective to describe what they were feeling ‘right now’. I collected 30 words. Those words were then painted by artist Susan Sacco and then I added figures that corresponded with those words.

This collection is a reflection of my community in isolation. I hope that they will see a part of themselves within the lines of these creations and know that they have been heard and that they are not alone.

As this collection sells I notice how people are connecting with the same words and it is nice to know that there are people out there feeling the same way as you.
